Not a Real Solution

This post was inspired by watching Dr. Ben Carson on This Week with George Stephanopoulos on December 13, 2015.

STEPHANOPOULOS: You have said that you do not believe that Islam is consistent with the constitution. What did you mean by that?

CARSON: If you accept all the premises, including Sharia, you know, which places women in a subservient position, which places other religions in a subservient position, which you know imposes things like death on homosexuals and people with sexual deviations, et cetera.

You know, these things are not consistent with the American constitution.

So, if somebody, you know, believes in Islam and they’re willing to reject those portions openly I don’t have a problem with that, but if they’re not willing to reject them, then it is not consistent with what we’re doing here.

Hmmm, I tend to think: What’s good for the gander is good for the goose.

I propose that Christians should have to do the same. They should have to reject openly the portions of scripture that are not consistent with the constitution.

These quotes are taken from The Bible.

1 Timothy 2:11-14 (NIV)

11 A woman[a] should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[b] she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.

Deuteronomy 13:6-10 (ESV)

“If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son or your daughter or the wife you embrace or your friend who is as your own soul entices you secretly, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ which neither you nor your fathers have known, some of the gods of the peoples who are around you, whether near you or far off from you, from the one end of the earth to the other, you shall not yield to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him, nor shall you conceal him. But you shall kill him. Your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. You shall stone him to death with stones, because he sought to draw you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

Leviticus 20:13 (ESV)

13 If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.

Of course we will have to make all religions reject the portion of their scriptures that are contrary to the American constitution, not just Christians. Pretty soon we can make all sorts of laws prohibiting the free exercise of religion for everyone. Wait a minute… doesn’t the constitution say something about this?

First Amendment to the United States Constitution:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…

To sum it up: Carson says the problem with Islam is its inconsistencies  with the Constitution. Then he goes on to say he wants to solve the problem by using a method that is inconsistent with the constitution, all the while ignoring the obvious fact that the Bible upholds the same ideals as the Koran.

butterfly change 2

You can handle the intensity.

You can adapt.

You can love what you hated.

You can change.

Everything changes. Nothing stays the same foreveryou will change.

Note To The Ego- an experiment: part four

I don’t care.

I don’t have to engage you every single moment.

I am allowed to put up boundaries.

I am allowed to say, “No.”

I can be mySelf, without giving in to your demands.

I do not have to be there for you every single second.

I can be free. I can ignore your nagging voice…

“Listen to me.. listen to me. I am so much more important.”

I am allowed to do what is best for the All.

I must take time for my Self.

I must allow the Self to come through not the ego.

Not the fake me.

I must not hide my true Self.

I cannot be afraid of anyone’s reaction.

I cannot be afraid of what channels through this body.

I am that which channels through.

Questions- an experiment: part three

Can they handle me?

Can they handle that kind of power?

The real question is, “Can I handle that kind of power”?

Am I still trying to contain it?

Even now? Am I dumbing it down?

Am I making it too easy to grasp?

Am I whoring my Self out?

I know something new is coming that I don’t yet comprehend.

Let Yourself Out- an experiment: part two

So what if I am flamboyant?

What is so fucking wrong with that?

Why am I constantly trying to tame my idiosyncrasies?

What do I find so wrong with them?

I’m a little hyperI’m a bit loud in every sense of the word

Is that really a “bad” thing?

I dance to the rhythm of my writing, is that so “wrong”?

Why do I still feel like I have to hide my “built in” features?

Why is natural and authentic somehow “subpar”?

Can I let myself out and not be afraid?

Open Channel- an experiment: part one

Right now. Presence. Be here.

We are not alone, even when it feels that way.

We are so much more than we think we are.

We have everything at our fingertips.

Yet, we think we have nothing.

We work so hard. Strive so much.

It is so much simpler than we think it is.

Why are we afraid?

What are we so anxious about?

What is our hurry?

What are you running to?…from?

Is it death? Endings? Sadness?

There is goodness in it all.

Stop avoiding it. You can’t.

Give your energy to giving, not avoiding.

What is that feeling we call anxiety?

Why don’t you like it? What is so “wrong” with it?

Can you come to grips with it? Can you experience it without fear?

Can you embrace such power and not be afraid?

When you can, things will change.

So what if your heart is beating fast?

Who told you that was bad?

What is it about yourself that you don’t want people to see?

What are you hiding?

You Are Not What You Eat–Part Three

Are we that egotistical that we think we can sustain this gig we’ve got going on earth when we are bent on destroying it? No one owns this earth. No one owns the land. There is no deed to earth. The natives tried to teach us this lesson, but we refused to listen. We pretend it’s ours to sell or own, we can rape the earth and its inhabitants, but the lesson is only getting costlier as time goes by.

We deny the truth out of our own pride. We are not number one. The earth doesn’t revolve around humans, we are not the center of the universe. We know this scientifically, but our actions betray us showing we still believe that we are number one. If we refuse to coexist, co-operate, and change then we will destroy ourselves.

You Are Not What You Eat–Part Two

If we are not what we eat, then why advocate eating healthy? What is healthy eating? Is it low-fat, low-calorie, organic, local, gmo-free, gluten-free, vegan food?

No, healthy eating is sustainable, loving and compassionate. It is eating consciously, without taking more than you need just because you can.

Food is not what is making you “overweight” or unhealthy, it’s your mindset about food that makes you “overweight” or unhealthy.

We’ve gotten it all wrong. The reason foods become harmful to our bodies is because we are eating in states of apathy, shame, guilt, and greed.

This Is How It Works

You can’t rack your brain. It doesn’t work that way.

You might know it, but you won’t know it.

Only when it’s time, then you will know.

There is no logic to your forgetfulness.

No reason for your remembrance.

The harder you try to force it,

The harder it gets.

The longer you resist,

The longer you test your own patience.

When you accept what is without losing your resolve,

When you accept the unknowing and trust the opportune memory.

Then you will have peace.

Then you can exit the cycle.

Untrap yourself from limiting dynamics.
